Over the past year, the St. Lawrence County Suicide Awareness Coalition and Youth Bureau have received incredible feedback and interest following our QPR Suicide Prevention Trainings. In response to the growing demand, we're excited to announce that the Youth Bureau, in partnership with the Suicide Awareness Coalition, is now offering LivingWorks safeTALK classes!
safeTALK is a free, three-hour training designed for anyone age 15 and older who wants to learn how to recognize and respond to someone who may be having thoughts of suicide.
Participants will learn how to:
- Reach out to someone who may be struggling
- Help them stay safe by connecting them to additional support
- Talk openly about suicide using a simple, effective model.
Two sessions are available:
1. Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 3:00 PM
2. Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at 4:30 PM
Both sessions will be held in the Human Services Center, 2nd Floor Conference Room.
Classes are limited to 15-20 participants, and registration is required.
You can register by clicking here or by contacting Alexa Backus Chase, Youth Bureau Director, at AChase@stlawco.gov.
Remember: Everyone can benefit from learning safeTALK because suicide prevention is everyone's business! Whether you're a public facing county employee, parent, friend, or community member. Together we can reduce the stigma surrounding mental health, and create a safer, more supportive community!
Hope to see you there!
